Lou’s Legacy Continues

2020 was a turning point for the performing arts world, from challenging music education programs in schools to cancelling out live performance in music halls across the country. This presented unforeseen challenges for music educators and had a devastating effect on the livelihood of working musicians. While there were some valiant efforts to produce virtual concerts, the lost revenues did not match that of performing to a live audience. Some venues found a way to keep the music going and musicians responded with great aplomb. ‘Pop Up’ concerts appeared in random outdoor locations offering a glimmer of hope to those who make a living in music.

Through this period, we gave merit awards to several gifted musicians who have contributed to the performing arts with their musical talents.

These are just some of the talented young Canadian music students to whom the Lou Williamson Scholarship Fund has awarded financial support to-date. There will be many more to come!
